Artist's Description
My intention was to photograph Takhlakh Lake in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, with Mount Adams reflected. It seemed as though mother nature had a different plan for me as I made my way to the lake under a layer of low clouds. Even after arriving at the lake, it looked as though the mountain was not going to show. Just as I resigned myself to photographing the beautiful alpine lake under a cloudy sky, the clouds cleared and Mt. Adams was revealed in snowy white glory! The lake was calm with a bit of mist on the far shore, providing a perfect mirror for the spectacular mountain.

Loree Johnson is a nature photographer and passionate advocate for the preservation and restoration of ecosystems and wildlife habitat. She discovered a love for photography late in life at the age of 50 while living in Yreka, California. The desire to travel and document nature induced her to take an early retirement from a tedious desk job and go on the road. During her travels through the Western U.S. for six years (2014-2020) she collected a wealth of rewarding experiences and unique photographs.
