Description
Ona Beach, on the central Oregon coast, is a treasure trove of unique rock formations and tidepools. What appears at first to be a smooth, sandy beach with a few rocks is actually many layers of volcanic rock which has been partially filled in with sand by the constant advance and retreat of the Pacific Ocean. In this image, the vein of stone is only slightly higher than the sand, creating a long line of rock toward the horizon.
