This image is part of the artist's specially selected Premium Collection of distinctive images. The magical moments of dawn, just before the sun breaks over the horizon at the beginning of another day, are filled with peace and serenity, more than any other time of day for me. When there is a light cloud cover, and only a slight breeze, tranquility abounds. The imposing presence of Mount Shasta is softened by the gentle morning light. The mountain's dreamlike reflection in the water evokes feelings of mystery and fantasy. And yet, these magical moments are as fleeting as life itself, as they fade quickly and give way to the reality of daylight. I am grateful to have witnessed this sunrise, in this special place. My hope is that this image will bring to you, the viewer, a bit of the other-worldly beauty of my experience, which I like to call "Morning Magic."
Loree Johnson is a nature photographer and passionate advocate for the preservation and restoration of ecosystems and wildlife habitat. She discovered a love for photography late in life at the age of 50 while living in Yreka, California. The desire to travel and document nature induced her to take an early retirement from a tedious desk job and go on the road. During her travels through the Western U.S. for six years (2014-2020) she collected a wealth of rewarding experiences and unique photographs. She volunteered for several National Wildlife Refuges along the way. Loree experiences profound joy in nature, and believes that all people should have the opportunity to experience it, too.
