Description
"Wilson's Snipe" by Loree Johnson Photography. Maybe it is their shy, secretive nature that led to the belief that snipes are imaginary creatures. Wilson's snipes (Gallinago delicata) are real, but typically hard to spot, although they are one of the most common shorebirds in North America. Photographed at Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Washington.
